After graduation, my former roommate approached me about building tournament management site for video game enthusiasts. As gamers ourselves, we had a shared vision to improve upon the existing products on the market, most notably Start.gg which we felt was hard to navigate around.
We wanted to give people a tool that could help tourney organizers manage and seed their events easier while giving regular players a quick way to explore and join games. Although we worked tirelessly for months, we did have to put the project on hold due to certain circumstances. Despite this, we were proud of what we accomplished.
We utilized a neat library called HeroUI which we used to build our tournament creation form above. It was nice not having to build our own date picker from scratch. Fast development was key after all.
We also integrated an admin page where organizers could manage their events. We added some responsivity to make mobile experiences enjoyable.
Here's a quick demo of our bracket system that my partner built. To make the graph, we utilized a neat tool called ReactFlow. It helped us meet our technical objectives to provide a clean interface to manage rounds while being serializable to store in a database.
